Citation Details:  Services will be conducted at Centuries Funeral Home Chapel for Talmadge ‎[sic Talmage]‎ Parker, age 92, of Shreveport, LA on Thursday, October 18, 2001 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Ray Boswell, assisted by Rev. Bill Hoffman with personal reflections by John L. Hammons. Interment to follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 17 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Mr. Parker entered into rest on Monday, October 15, 2001 at Christus Schumpert Highland Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Dodson, LA and lived in Shreveport since 1938. He was a member of the Highland Baptist Churh for over 60 years and presently a member of First Baptist Church of Shreveport. Mr. Parker was the owner and operator of the Highland Barber Shop for 40 years. He was an active golfer, hunter, and fisherman. Most of all he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by two brothers, Homer and Clyde Parker. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Myrtle Parker; two daughters, Sandra Humphrey and husband Gene of Chattanooga, TN, and Janet Shaw and husband Richard of Valdosta, GA; two sisters, Ora Deloach and Elva Emmons, both of Shreveport, LA; two grandchildren, John Shaw and wife Donnel of Dallas, TX, and Melody Samples and husband Timm of Valdosta, GA; two great-grandchildren, Richard Gregory Shaw and Emily Shaw, both of Dallas, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class at First Baptist of Shreveport. Pallbearers will be John L. Hammons, Gene Humphrey, Richard Shaw, John R. Shaw, T.C.
