  Text: Alexander H. Watkins, 67, of Stroudsburg died Saturday Dec. 21, in St. Lukes Hospital, Bethlehem, Pa. He was the husband of Norma ‎(LiMuli)‎ Watkins at home. Born in New Orleans, La., he was the son of the late Honorable William H. and Earle ‎(Hilbun)‎ Watkins Jr. Alex lived in the Stroudsburg area for the past 16 years and prior to that he lived in Budd Lake, N.J. area for 13 years and in his early years in the Rutherford, N.J. area. He was a renowned Jazz musician, having worked throughout the New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania area. He also worked as a newspaper advertising agent at various papers in the N. J. and Pa. area including the Pocono Record and the Daily Record, N.J. Alex was the instrument sales representative for the school's music rental programs at many of the New Jersey and Pa. schools for many years. He was a member of the St. Lukes Roman Catholic Church, Stroudsburg, and performed at many of the special occasion Masses that were held at the church. He was an Army veteran. In addition to his wife Norma, he is survived by two sons: Michael A. Watkins of Stroudsburg and William H. Watkins III and his wife Nicole of East Stroudsburg; two daughters: Mary Catherine Yoost and her husband James, and Valerie Sagheddu and her husband Fabio all of Long Pond, Pa.; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Steve C. Watkins who died in 1988. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 27, at 10:30 a.m. from St. Lukes Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Thomas D. McLaughlin as celebrant. Burial will be in the Gates of Heaven section of Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 26 from 2 to — p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Lukes Church, 818 Main St. Stroudsburg, PA 18360. The Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, 23 N. Ninth St., Stroudsburg is in charge of the arrangements.
